Mrs. Jessie "Mae" Summers Harris, age 91, passed away on September 17, 2026. She was born on October 18, 1934, in Hiram, Georgia, to the late James Summers Sr. and Beulah Summers.
She was a loving and compassionate woman who genuinely cared for people. She lived her life as a beautiful example of Christ's love, treating everyone she met with kindness, patience, and grace. She had a special gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her gentle spirit and caring heart touched many lives and will never be forgotten.
She was married to Mr. Floyd Harris and loved him deeply; they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage before he passed away in 2012. Their life together was filled with love, faith, companionship, and many treasured memories.
She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, lovingly creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. She also found great joy in gardening, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Some of her favorite memories were made while camping at Hard Labor Creek State Park, where she enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of nature.
Along with her husband and her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Henderson; brother, James Henry Summers; and sisters Ruth Gregory and Frances Curtis.
Mae is survived by her children, Dean (Vickie) Harris, Delora Harris, Bill (Jayne) Harris, Charlie (Sandra) Bruce, Curtis Harris, Janet (Michael) Hall, and Susan (Murray) Manning. She also leaves behind siblings Samuel Summers and Bea (Eddie) Mabius, 17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mae will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Sam Clark Chapel with Dr. Gene Morehouse officiating. Mae will be laid to rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Catawba Reservation Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rockhill, South Carolina.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love. Although she will be deeply missed, her family and friends will find comfort in the many precious memories they shared and in knowing that her beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
