Mr. Jerry Thomas Jelks, age 91, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026. Jerry was born on August 27, 1934, in Gadsden, Alabama, to the late Louis and Martha Jelks. He lived a full life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for his family.
Jerry was a devoted fan of Alabama Football, forever cheering "Roll Tide". He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. In previous years, you could often find him fishing or birdwatching, activities that brought him great joy and peace. He and his wife also spent years traveling this great country with family and friends.
Along with his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Walker, and sisters Betty Pepper and Carol Jelks.
Jerry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Gail Jelks, with whom he was married for 70 wonderful years. Together, they built a life they were very proud of. His children also survive him, Keith (Tamara) Jelks, Tammy (Mark) Walker, Kim (Mike) Brown, and Kristi (Glenn) Bigham; grandchildren, Tori (Brad) Thomason, Taren (Aaron) Winn, Tyler Jelks, Jenna (Daniel) Andree, Jake (Brittany) Seiden, Kelsey (Ben) Donnan, Bradley Welsh, Ben Welsh, Anna (Eli) Wilson, Jessey (Chase) Holt, Cody (Brooke) Brown, Erica (Rodney) Crenshaw; 15 great great-grandchildren, all who cherished him dearly, and sisters Shirley Helms, and Pat Cox.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry's life and legacy. A visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at Sam Clark Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. He will be laid to rest at Paulding Memorial Gardens with Jake Seiden, Bradley Welsh, Ben Welsh, Tyler Jelks, Brad Thomason, and Baylor Thomason serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Jerry will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, calmness, integrity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His children want everyone to know that he was not just one of the "good guys". Jerry Jelks was the good guy, a truly remarkable man.
