James "Jimmy" Edward Johnson, 71, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away on May 3, 2023. Jimmy was born August 26, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Alma Ruth and William W. Johnson Sr. Jimmy attended McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, then he attended vocational school before beginning his 45-year career with the UA Local 72 Plumbers, Pipe Fitters, HVACR Technicians Union as a Journeyman Pipe fitter. This led to his final placement with Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia where he spent 10 years before retiring. Jimmy attended West Ridge Church in Hiram, Georgia and in his spare time enjoyed being outside. He especially enjoyed hiking, fishing, and golfing. Jimmy was a loving brother, and uncle who will be greatly missed by his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents: W.W. Johnson Sr. and Alma Ruth Johnson; brothers, W.W. Johnson Jr., Ronald Leroy Johnson, Billy Jack Johnson, and sister, Anne Marie Johnson.
He is survived by his brother, Ray (Donna) Johnson; sister-in-law Carlene Johnson; nieces, Jennifer (Donald) Morgan, Raylee Johnson; nephew, Wes (Sara) Johnson; great-nieces, Abby Johnson, Savannah Thornton; great-nephews, Austin Morgan, Gant (Ashley) Morgan, Brody Johnson, Walker Johnson, Benjamin Thornton and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service for Jimmy will be held on May 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Rev. Mike Woods and Rev. Gant Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Sunday May 7, 2023, from 12:00 PM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the USO in Jimmy's honor..
