James Ledford Hewett, lovingly known as Peanut, passed away on February 26, 2024, at age 79. He was born on July 5, 1944 to the late Lester and Linda Hewett in LaGrange, Georgia. James was an United States Army Veteran who served a grateful nation. After serving, he was a truck driver for 45 years and loved being on the road. When at home, he loved going fishing, watching his beloved Georgia Bulldogs, and his favorite Western movies. As a grandfather, his favorite thing to do was to watch the kids play ball and share his favorite snack, a moonpie, with them. James cherished his family, loved each of them deeply, and saw them through prideful eyes. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife of 15 years, Shelby Hewett. He is survived by his children, Cindy Bills and Mike Hale of LaGrange, Georgia, Christy Hewett of LaGrange, Georiga, Cassie (Scott) Ragsdale of Dallas, Georgia, and Kelly Vaughn of Lithia Springs, Georgia; grandchildren, Joseph and Stephanie Williams of Dallas, Georgia, Vince and Jennifer Williams of LaGrange, Georgia, Dylan Ford of LaGrange, Georgia, Dallton Hewett of LaGrange, Georgia, Tyler Ragsdale, Wesley Ragsdale, and Carlee Heaton all of Dallas, Georgia; one great-grandchild, Will Bridwell; and several nieces and nephews.
