James David Carlisle

February 7, 1947 — April 15, 2026

James David Carlisle, affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on February 7, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Thomas and Belle Carlisle, Jimmy devoted his life to his family and his community.

A seasoned professional in the construction industry, Jimmy built his career as an elevator installer and maintenance technician, working with several elevator companies over the years. Yet it was his passion for coaching that truly defined him. For many years, he dedicated countless hours to teaching and coaching youth in baseball, basketball, football, and softball through the Paulding Recreation Department. His commitment to young athletes left a lasting legacy. He guided even the most challenged teams to remarkable victories, instilling values of teamwork, perseverance, and confidence in every child he coached.

Jimmy was known for his warm personality, infectious smile, and love of telling jokes-qualities that brought joy to everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration, not only within his family but also in the many lives he touched through his coaching.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Scroggins and Francis Newman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Lorraine Carlisle; his son, Adam (Christy) Carlisle; his daughter, Mary Carlisle; his sister, Betty Smith; and his grandsons, Christian Carlisle and William Carlisle. Jimmy was a devoted family man whose love for his wife and children gave him purpose and meaning throughout his life.
