James Wayne Brooks

February 5, 1939 — December 20, 2020

James “Wayne” Brooks, age 81, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 5, 1939 to his late parents, James Lester and Jewell Violet Brooks. Mr. Brooks wore many hats throughout his life, he was a member of the United States Navy, Manager over materials with Georgia Power for over 30 Years, then went on to work with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for over 10 years. He was also a Mason and Shriner. He loved the game of golf and played his whole life including after his retirement, where he played with the Paulding Senior Golfers. Wayne never met a stranger in his life and always left an impression that was hard to forget. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many who will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 57 years Nancy Jo Brooks.


Wayne is survived by his daughter; Lesa Scanlan and her husband Russ of Rogersville, Missouri, brother, Forest Brooks and his wife Joan of Aragon, Georgia, grandchildren; John and Jessie Scanlan of Mt. Grove, Missouri, and many friends.


Graveside Service Services for Mr. Brooks will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11:00AM at Aragon Community Cemetery with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.


The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who will not be able to attend the service in person due to the state’s Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time). If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn and that social distancing is practiced helping prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses.
