Jacquelin Burt

Mrs. Jacquelin Laverne Hansom Burt, age 73 of Dallas, GA, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025. She was born June 10, 1951 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of the late Curtis Hansom, Sr. and the late Catherine Easley Hansom. While living in Richmond, she attended the Northminister Baptist Church.

She was a proud veteran of the United States Army retiring with 16 years of faithful service. Not only did Jacquelin serve her country, but also serving in the Army was her husband who served for 10 years, her eldest daughter with three years of service and a granddaughter currently serving. What a proud Army family!

She had over 30 years of service as an oncology data specialist. She enjoyed cooking and traveling, especially to Europe. A favorite pastime was listening to music, her favorites being gospel, jazz and R&B. She had a great love for people, but her greatest love was her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Hansom, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Burt; two daughters, Naija Burt Owens and her husband Darrell and Nia Lawton and her husband Josiah; five grandchildren, Maikela Benjamin, Tamia Harris, Asjha Kennedy, Mystiq Kennedy and Jayla Owens; sister, Tela Pitt; brother, Donnell Hansom; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Jacquelin will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:30am in the Sam Clark Chapel with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00pm in the Georgia National Cemetery of Canton, GA.
