Helen R. Cottrell, age 75, of Villa Rica, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025. Born in Middlesboro, KY, Helen was the daughter of the late Harrison and Freeda Taylor. The family will have a visitation on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., followed by a Chapel service in the Sam Clark Chapel with Rev. Clint Alewine officiating, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Helen will be laid to rest on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, in the Lee Family Cemetery, Rose Hill, VA at 3:00 p.m.
Helen had retired from Wachovia Bank, where she worked for many years as a Teller. She was a sports fan who cheered for the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Family time was her favorite enjoyment, whether it was cooking her famous gravy and biscuits, playing board or card games with the grandchildren. Helen also knew how to provide for her family through farming, gardening, and canning what she grew, ensuring her family enjoyed fresh produce year-round.
Helen leaves behind memories that her family will always cherish. She is survived by her son, Michael Cottrell, and his wife, Melinda; grandchildren, Daniel Cottrell and his wife Stephanie, and Amber Cole and her husband, Tate; great-grandchildren, Hunter Cottrell and Addison Cottrell; brother, Junior Taylor and his wife, Lora; sisters, Wilma Hall, Wanda Puchosic and her husband Bob, and Tish Turner and her husband, Dez. There are also many nieces and nephews surviving.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Danny Cottrell, to whom she was married to for 53 years.
