Harry Arthur McGarvey

Harry Arthur McGarvey passed away on December 19, 2022. He was born on July 21, 1959 to the late Gerald and Janie McGarvey. Harry was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Masonic Barlett Lodge #139. He retired from the Paulding County Sheriffs Office after over 20 years of service. Harry loved spending time with his sons and especially enjoyed watching his sons play football in high school and college. Around the holidays, Harry would anonymously help out others and would help make hard times easier for those who were struggling. Harry was an incredible man who will be truly missed.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald William McGarvey and Janie Outlaw McGarvey and sister, Sydney McGarvey Parham. He is survived by his sons, Sidney (Amanda) McGarvey and William (Brittney) McGarvey; stepson, Joe (Jamee) Thurmond; brother, Rene (Clara) Letourneau Sr.; brother-in-law, Joe Parham; grandchildren, Kinleigh Mae Phillips, Jaxson Avery McGarvey, Owen Daniel McGarvey, and with one on the way, Bryson Thurmond, McKenzie Thurmond, Baylee Thurmond, Merritt Thurmond; great-grandchild, Kaden Thurmond; nieces and nephews, Rene (Diana) Letoureau Jr., Josh (Jennifer) Letoureau, Doreen Rogers, Darlene Cole, Joy (Wanye) Tucker, Jason Parham, Courtney (Trevor) Willis, Allison Moore, Morgan Moore, Emma and Jonah Rogers.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, January 1, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services for Mr. McGarvey will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 2, 2023 beginning at 11:00am with Chaplain Joey Meeks officiating. Interment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 2:00pm.
