Mrs. Polly Moon Barge, age 81 of Gay, Georgia, formerly of Dallas, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026. She was born September 29, 1944 in Cobb County, Georgia, daughter of the late Lawrence Moon and the late Nellie Davis Moon.
She dedicated over 10+years of her life to the field of investment management having worked for the Invesco Company and was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church of Senoia, Georgia. Polly had a love for travel and a special love for cheering on her grandkids at their ballgames. She will be best remembered for the amazing meals she prepared for family and friends and spent her life making memories and spreading joy to everyone around her.
She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law, who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Barge; three children, Melissa Furgerson, Derrick Smith and Darin (Stephanie) Smith; step-daughter, Natalie Valdez; five grandchildren, Josh (Amanda) Smith, Chad (Ashtyn) Smith, Spencer Smith, Brandi Furgerson and Ryan Smith; six great-grandchildren, Tucker Smith, Lucas Smith, Josephine Smith, Knox Smith, Mila Smith and Zoey Smith; brother, Len (Janice) Moon; sister, Emma Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mrs. Barge will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:30 AM in the Sunrise Gardens of Memories of Douglasville, Georgia, with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
