Gladys (Waits) Rakestraw

Gladys W. Rakestraw passed away February 22, 2022. She was born on February 10, 1937 to the late Lloyd and Queenie Waits. Gladys loved being outside in her yard with her flowers or in her garden. She spent many loving hours baking her famous pound cakes and German chocolate cakes. Gladys is and will continue to be very loved and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenny Rakestraw, her sister, Lucy Waits, and her grandson, Charles D. Shipp Jr. She is survived by her son, David (Terri) Shipp, daughters, Sandra (Wally) Smith, Lynn (Jimmy) Kirkpatrick, Kimberly (Dustin) Behounek, brothers, Jake Waits, Alton Waits, Gene Waits,  sisters, Hazel Thomason, Joyce Bankston, many grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 9:30am until 11:00am. Funeral Services for Mrs. Rakestraw will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Don Voyles officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
