Frederick "Fred" Maurice Anderson, 82, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born November 4, 1942, in Jacksonville to Vera and Elmer Anderson Sr., Fred's life was full of devotion to his country, community, and-above all-family.
A proud graduate of New Stanton High School (now Stanton College Preparatory School), Fred enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduation. He completed basic training at Parris Island, SC, before serving in Qui Nhon, Vietnam in 1962. His military journey continued with a distinguished assignment at the United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he had the honor of meeting President Lyndon Johnson and Vice President Hubert Humphrey.
After his military service, Fred dedicated 25 years of his career as a Lead Man at General Motors. He was also an active member of UAW 10 for a decade, the Rosenwald School Museum Preservation Committee , the Alpha to Omega church ministries, supported youth and community as part of Paulding County's recreational gyms, and most importantly, a devout member of Sweet Home Baptist Church, where he served as a Senior Usher Board Member.
Fred's pride and joy came from the time spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Anderson; his children Karen Anderson Boyd and Vincent Anderson; his bonus daughters Rhonda Glenn and Raiko Jones; his precious fur babies Bullet (deceased) and Jack; his siblings Cheryl (deceased), Rodney (Linda), and Andy (Sandy, deceased). He was preceded in death by his parents Vera and Elmer Anderson Sr.
Fred leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Ebony Anderson Boyd, Endya Boyd, Olivia Anderson, Trey Boyd, Jeremy Jones, Lucas Jones, Michael Glenn (deceased), and Elijah Jones. He was the kind of grandfather who never missed a chance to cheer at a game, share a laugh, or offer wisdom-sometimes while caring for his prized 2000 ruby red Corvette.
Known for his love of football, fishing, swimming, golf, and basketball, Fred enjoyed life with the same energy he once brought to the Marine Corps: honor, courage and commitment. He found joy in the simple things-family dinners, watching a good game, or teaching his grandchildren how to fish.
Fred will be remembered not just for his service and accomplishments, but for the way he made everyone feel like family. His warmth, laugh, humor, and unwavering love will carry on through those who were blessed to know him.
Clark Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service for Mr. Frederick "Fred" Maurice Anderson.
