Elaine Gibson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elaine Gibson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who died unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 27, 1936, in Dallas, Georgia, Elaine was the daughter of the late Noah and Eunice Austin. She spent her life dedicated to her family and her work in the insurance industry, where she served as an insurance adjuster until the remarkable age of 75.

Elaine is survived by her son, David Townsend, her daughter Donna Roberts Ray, her cherished grandson Jessie Roberts, and her dear brother Starlyn Austin. Her family will remember her as a compassionate and loving presence whose impact will be felt for generations to come. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Steve Townsend.

A woman of faith, Elaine found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an ardent lover of arts and crafts and spent countless hours knitting beautiful creations that she shared with family and friends.

Funeral services for Elaine will be held at Sam Clark Chapel on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Don Rackley officiating. Elaine will be laid to rest to rest in the Mount Nebo Methodist Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, beginning at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
