Obituary: Edwin Sullivan Deloach
Edwin Sullivan Deloach, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 18, 2023, at his residence in Temple, GA. Born on June 10, 1944, in Lagrange, GA, Edwin led a fulfilling life filled with love, dedication, and numerous accomplishments. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Edwin's commitment to service began during his time in the U.S. Airforce from 1965 to 1968, where he proudly served as a Crash Fireman. After his military service, Edwin continued his passion for firefighting and emergency response by working as a Fireman and EMT at the Forest Park Fire Department. His dedication and bravery were evident in his roles, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he served.
In 1981, Edwin began a remarkable career as a Crash Fireman at Lockheed Martin, where he worked tirelessly until his well-deserved retirement in 2008. His commitment to ensuring the safety and security of others was unparalleled.
Outside of his professional life, Edwin was a loving family man known for his kind heart and compassionate spirit. He cherished his role as a father, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his son, Edwin Deloach, his son Tony Strange, and their respective wives, Amanda Deloach and Chrissy Strange, his sister Barbara, and his sister Nancy. Edwin's legacy extends to his beloved grandchildren, Shannon Vaughn, Jessica Summers, Michael Strange, and Joey Strange, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Madelin Vaughn, Izabella Vaughn, Kaydee Summers, Gavyn Summers, and Paisley.
Edwin had a passion for motorcycles and cars, finding joy in the open road and the beauty of mechanics. He also possessed a deep knowledge and interest in history, particularly the Civil War. His home served as a mini museum, proudly displaying his collection of Civil War artifacts. Edwin's enthusiasm for history led him to become a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, where he connected with others who shared his love for preserving the memory of the past.
We will forever cherish the memories we shared with Edwin. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will continue to inspire us. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory live on in our hearts forever.
There will be a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2023 at American Legion, Post 70, 120 Legion Lake Circle, Villa Rica, GA 30180.
