Edward "Poppy" Morris

Edward "Poppy" Morris, age 87, of Hiram, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was born on January 11, 1937 in Dallas, Georgia, the son of the late E.O. and Blondean Priest Morris. Poppy dedicated 45 years of service to Lockheed and spent many of those years as a Tool and Dye Division Supervisor.

Poppy was a devoted family man with an infectious love for life and an unwavering devotion to his loved ones. Throughout his life, Poppy found joy in the simple things, whether it was spending quality time with his family and friends, tending to his beloved yard, or engaging in lively conversations at the Pine Valley Store. Known for his witty humor, larger-than-life personality, and captivating storytelling, Poppy had a way of bringing people together and spreading laughter wherever he went.

A man of many passions, Poppy was a harmonica player, a keen coin collector, and a connoisseur of Sunday dinners. His warmth and sociability made him a cherished friend and confidant to many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a Mason and a member of the Dallas Lodge No. 182 F.&A.M., Poppy took great pride in his involvement with the Masonic community, recently receiving his 65-year apron as a testament to his dedication and commitment.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wynell Boswell Morris; his grandson, Dylan Morris, his siblings: Helen Morris, Dallas Morris, Lois Willingham, and Dorothy Wilson; and his brother-in-law, Harold Harris.

Poppy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Tina Morris; his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and David Castleberry; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Barbara Morris; sister, Gwen Harris; grandchildren: Megan Morris and her fiancé, Ben Suttles, Clayton and Allison Castleberry, Sarah and Tevita Moimoi, and Victoria and Casey Pike; great grandchildren: Maddie Morris and Linkcon Morris; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Georgia on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 beginning at 12:30 pm followed by a Celebration of Life in the Clark Funeral Home chapel at 1:30 pm with Chaplain Darin Cochran officiating. Eulogies will be delivered by Clayton Castleberry, Megan Morris and Maddie Morris.

Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in Bethel Methodist Cemetery.
