Dorothy Lucille Monteiro, a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, passed away on December 30, 2023, at the age of 85. Born on June 5, 1938, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, compassion, and selflessness. She dedicated herself to caring for her family and was always there for her husband, Adelino Joseph Monteiro, and their children and grandchildren.

 

Dorothy possessed an amazing talent in the kitchen, where she found joy in cooking and creating delicious recipes. Dorothy held a soft spot for cardinals, finding solace in their vibrant presence and appreciating their beauty.

 

In her free time, Dorothy found comfort in listening to audiobooks and watching the heartwarming stories on the Hallmark Channel. She also took pleasure in traveling, with her favorite destination being the beautiful beaches of Alabama and the outlet malls where she enjoyed the thrill of shopping.

 

Dorothy's commitment to her family extended beyond the home. She served as an excellent bookkeeper for her husband's home school, ensuring each detail was meticulously handled with care and precision.

 

Dorothy is preceded in death by parents, Oliver and Anna Freeby, her son, Steward D. (Gail) Dorward, brother, Charles Freeby, and her sister, Arlene Gerber.

 

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her husband, Adelino J. Monteiro, daughter, Susan (Michael) Pettine, sons, David A. Monteiro, Keith A. (Lura) Monteiro, grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Dorward, Tyler (Caity) Dorward, Michael Pettine, Matthew (Lauren) Pettine, Sarah (Cody) Neal, and Bradley Monteiro. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas (Linda) Freeby, and by her eight great grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 9, 2023, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Clark Funeral Home and Chapel. A service to celebrate Doroth'y life will be Tuesday, January 9, 2023 at 2:00pm at Clark Funeral Home and Chapel with Rev. Don Rackley officiating.
