Dennis Morris Darensbourg of Dallas, GA, passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on August 24, 1941, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Joseph and Clementine Darensbourg, Dennis was known to many as a hardworking and dedicated family man who loved deeply and lived fully.
Dennis was a proud Navy veteran, having served from January 29, 1960, until March 30, 1964, earning the rank of SA E-2. After his military service, he transitioned into law enforcement, serving as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the New Orleans Sheriff’s Department. After retiring from the New Orleans Sheriff’s Office, he worked as a civilian security guard for the military and for CSC, providing security for concerts and sporting events in Atlanta, GA. He committed his life to serving and protecting his community, embodying the principles of honor and integrity.
Dennis was a faithful follower of Jesus. He sang in the choir at Holy Spirit Catholic Church while living in San Diego, California, and was an active member of Trinity Chapel in Powder Springs, Georgia, where he volunteered in the parking lot and assisted with other tasks to help others until his health prevented him from attending. He had a passion for cooking and often delighted in singing his grandchildren to sleep, filling their dreams with the sweet sounds of blues music and his warm voice. He also had a special fondness for old Western movies and TV shows, always ready for a good story.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his stepmother, Alice Darensbourg, and his brothers, Ronald Darensbourg and Anthony Darensbourg.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Darensbourg; sons, Dennis (Treanaka) Darensbourg Jr., Steve (Lashawn) Darensbourg, Chad (Patricia) Darensbourg, and Iran (Ashley) Darensbourg; daughters, Angela Darensbourg, Valencia Darensbourg, Nicole (Steve) Williams, Bianca Yarbough, Renee (Errick) Gaffney, and Shanique (Christopher) Rosario; brother, Joseph Darensbourg; and sisters, Pamela Dunn, Pamela Jones, Sherol Ellis, Betty Wright, and Alice Darensbourg; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Dennis will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering faith.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the Sam Clark Chapel. Dennis will be laid to rest following the service at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
