Daniel V. Odum, age 78, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away Friday, June 6, 2025. Born on December 31, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, Daniel lived a life exemplified by love, dedication, and service.
Daniel was a proud veteran of the freight industry, having dedicated nearly 32 years of his career to UPS, where he was recognized in the Circle of Honor for his safe driving record. His commitment to excellence and safety on the road was an enduring testament to his character. In addition to his time at UPS, Daniel spent eight years working with the movie industry, safely transporting their equipment.
He will be remembered as the best husband to Brenda Gamel Odum, with whom he shared a beautiful 61-year union. Together, they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. Daniel's devotion to Brenda and their family was unwavering-his loved ones were truly his world. His role as a father was equally significant, as he cherished his daughter, Kimberly Odum Merritt, who preceded Daniel in death. Kimberly's loving heart and compassionate spirit brought joy to her parents and was their world. In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by one granddaughter.
Daniel's spirit will be cherished by all who knew him. His gentle nature and kind heart touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by friends and family alike.
