Cynthia "Cyndi" Leigh Mason

Cynthia Leigh "Cyndi" Mason, 70, passed away on September 17, 2026. She was born on February 4, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Omer and Barbara Canull.

Cyndi was a dedicated registered nurse who spent more than 25 years caring for others before retiring from Northside Hospital. Her compassion, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless patients, families, and coworkers, many of whom became her close friends.

Outside of her career, Cyndi found joy in the things that made life memorable. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed planning adventures with her family to the beach. She collected sand and shells from the places she visited, eventually filling more than 160 bottles-each one a tiny treasure connected to a special place, a special moment, and the people she shared it with. She also enjoyed tending to her garden, scrapbooking, and quilting. Her beautiful, thoughtfully made quilts were gifts to her family, each one a lasting expression of her love.

Cyndi loved her family. She was a loving mother and friend, but her most treasured role was being Oma to her grandbabies. Each grandchild was precious to her in their own special way, and she loved them for exactly who they were. She was incredibly proud of each of them and the wonderful people they were becoming. Whether sharing an adventure, a laugh, or simply time together, being their Oma brought her immeasurable happiness. Her grandchildren were among her greatest blessings, and she leaves each of them with something that can never be taken away-the certainty that they were deeply loved by their Oma, always.

Cyndi was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Barbara Canull; her brother, Mark Canull; and her grandbaby, Brooks.

She is survived by her son, Spencer Mason; daughters, Shelby Darrah and Sierra (Joe) Johnson; brothers, Rob Canull, David Canull, Beau Canull, and Jacob Canull; sisters, Chris Shultz and Amy Hickey; grandchildren, Canaan, Amy (Bryson), Jackson, Lily, Brayden, Memphis, Bailey, and Remington; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Cyndi is no longer here to make new memories with us, the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the beautiful life she lived will remain in our hearts. A devoted Christian, Cyndi loved the Lord and held her faith close to her heart. Her love for God was reflected in the kindness and compassion she showed others, and her faith remained a source of strength throughout her life. We find peace in knowing she is home with the Lord she loved so dearly, and comfort in the promise that we will see her again. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
