Corrine (Lindsay) Fleming

October 25, 1928 — November 23, 2021

Corrine Joan Lindsay Fleming, 93, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed from this earthly world and was welcomed into her Heavenly home on November 23, 2021. Corrine was born on October 25, 1928, in Paterson, NJ, to the late Edward J. Lindsay and Cornelia G. Bavelaar Lindsay.

Our Corrine was known to be a resourceful problem solver, and the person others came to for help and advice. Loving, caring, affectionate, independent and industrious, she encouraged others to achieve and excel. 'Where there's a will, there's a way' and 'harder makes you stronger' were her directives, and she was never shy to express her opinion. Corrine will be remembered for her humorous and mischievous traits, too, and she will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known her. She had a love of home, family, children, pets, gardening (especially her roses), dancing, cooking, sewing, needlework and handcrafts, and she could work with equipment and power tools without hesitation.

Corrine is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Everett Fleming, son, Douglas A. Fleming, Sister-in-Law Mildred Fleming Eelman, Brother-in-Law William E. Eelman, Nieces Lois E. Eelman Dekker, Marilyn A. Eelman Mix, and grandnephews Christopher P. Mix and Thomas Dekker.

Surviving are her daughters, Lorraine J. Fleming of NJ and Nancy P. (Stephan) Andreycak of Hiram, GA, granddaughter Lindsay A. Fleming of MA, grandson Julio K. Fleming of NJ, nephew David (Anita) Eelman of SC, grandnephews Kevin M. (Kaitlyn) Mix of MA, William (Megan) Dekker and Daniel Dekker of NJ, great-grandnephew Christopher 'CJ' Mix and great-grandniece Marilyn R. Mix of MA.

We share our loss with Corrine's Memory Care family from Canterfield of Kennesaw.
After graduating from Fair Lawn High School in 1946, Corrine began her business office career with Public Service Electric & Gas. She retired from her position as an Executive Secretary for DeGussa Corporation in 1998, but prior to her children graduating from high school, Corrine had worked for many years as a School Bus Driver. She was supportive of her husband's position as Treasurer and founding member of the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was also an Election Poll Worker for the Bergen County, NJ Board of Elections, serving in that roll into her 80's. Corrine was a Girl Scout Brownie leader, a Sunday school teacher for Warren Point Presbyterian Church of Fair Lawn, and was involved in a variety of her childrens' activities.

In retirement years, Corrine joined Stitchworks in her home town of Fair Lawn, creating afghans, ponchos and sweaters for community charities. As a volunteer for Borough of Fair Lawn Health and Human Services, Corrine assisted with the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.

Private services will be held at a later date in New Jersey.

Donations to honor Corrine and Everett Fleming may be made to the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a 501(c)3 organization, PO Box 282, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.
