Clay Lee Rakestraw

Clay Lee (Rackley) Rakestraw passed away in Cartersville, Georgia on March 13, 2024. She was born in Cobb County, Georgia to Warner Rackley and Nannie (Freeman) Rackley and was a long-time member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Clay Lee graduated from Hiram High School in 1945. She lived a simple life being a homemaker and raising six children.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland (Whitey) Rakestraw; sons, Larry Rakestraw, Jackie Rakestraw, and Robbie Rakestraw. Also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Hollis, Vellie, James, Marvin, Willard, Pauline, Homer, and Sara. She leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces and a host of many loved ones and friends.

She is survived by children, Ricky Rakestraw, Sheila Burnup, and Wanda Mitchell together with eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM. Due to the chance of inclement weather, Mrs. Rakestraw's graveside service has been changed to a chapel service. Services will begin at 2:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with interment to immediately follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by donations to Poplar Springs Cemetery Fund.
