Chris "Hound Dog" Aikens, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Cartersville, Georgia, at the age of 65. Born on September 7, 1959, Chris was the son of the late Elmer and Helen Aikens. He was a truck driver for Taylor Transport, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his job.
Known affectionately as "Hound Dog," Chris was a passionate music lover and an accomplished drummer, often entertaining friends and family with his musical talents. His wit and humor made him a natural storyteller. Being a Georgia native, Chris was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his two sons, Jonathan (Kimberly) and Christopher (Christy) Aikens, and a loving family that includes his brothers, Tommy (Linda), Steve (Barbara), and Howard (Mary) Aikens, as well as his sisters, Theresa Lee (John) and Betty Edgell. Also surviving Chris are his eight beloved grandchildren.
The family will hold a visitation for family and friends on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram. Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Sam Clark Chapel at 11 am. Following the service, Chris will be laid to rest in the Bethany Christian Church Cemetery.
