Chastine Ashley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted member of her community, who departed this life peacefully on June 10, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on March 12, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Edward and Christine Beason Jones. Chastine lived a life of unwavering faith and service, exemplifying the love of the Lord throughout her years.
Chastine dedicated many years to the Douglas County School System as a food service worker, where she touched the lives of countless children and families. Her dedication to serving others was rivaled only by her commitment to her faith as a devoted member of Mableton Pentecostal Church for over 45 years. Through her steadfast belief, she prayed diligently for her family, friends, and anyone in need, reflecting her nurturing spirit and compassionate heart.
A passionate collector of porcelain angels, Chastine found joy in the beauty of these delicate treasures. She delighted in reading her Bible, allowing her faith to guide her every step. Additionally, she cherished family traditions, particularly during the holiday season, often enjoying Christmas and Disney movies with her loved ones. Above all, Chastine adored her family, devoting herself to creating cherished memories with her children and with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Chastine is also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Ashley; and her siblings: Pat Westmoreland, Melton Jones, Florence Weeks, and Ted Jones.
Chastine is survived by her children: Danny (Nicki) Ashley, Curtis (Jamie) Ashley, Charlotte (Roger) Black, and Lisa Ashley; her siblings: Tommy Jones, Larry Jones, James Neil Jones, Nancy Jones, Charlotte Christopher, Barbara and Marie; grandchildren: Kayla Baswell, Alaina Ashley, Christopher Martinez, Austin Martinez, Chloe Baswell, Ellie Kate Ashley, Ashton Mabe and Brayden Smallwood; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
In acknowledgment of her life and legacy, the funeral service to honor Chastine's memory will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 am in Sam Clark Chapel with Pastor Ricky Shirley officiating.
In accordance with her wishes, Chastine will be cremated following the funeral service.
