Charles Richard “Ricky” Clayton, age 63, passed on March 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 4, 1959, to his late parents John Richard and Patricia Ann Clayton at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta GA. Ricky was a Superintendent for Skanska (formerly Beers Construction) in Atlanta, GA for over 40 years. His career began right out of High School with his first project being the footings for the Ma Bell(Bellsouth) Building. Throughout his employment, he worked and oversaw many large commercial projects that dot the Atlanta skyline and throughout the southeast. Ricky loved being outside and working with his hands. He was happy to lend a hand, hammer, or wrench whenever called upon and if something needed built, Ricky found a way. One of his favorite past times was fishing, especially at his place on the Coosa River. He loved his family deeply and would do anything he could for them. He regularly attended Beulah Baptist Church in Muscadine, AL and enjoyed the fellowship and word of God with his church family. Ricky was a gentle soul and an amazing husband, a proud father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a loving brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure to know and love him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Logan Charles Still. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years; Cathy Clayton of Dallas, GA, his daughters; Amie Brinkley and her husband Sammy of Muscadine, AL, Melissa Cross and her husband Craig of Kingston, GA; Stepson, Jeremy Fennell and his wife Stacy of Dallas, GA; brother Tony Clayton and his wife Lynn of Fruithurst, AL, sisters, Kelly Rissler and her husband Steve of Tucson, AZ, Melanie Brown and her husband Ken of Dallas, grandchildren, Luke Still, Kaitlyn Henderson and Her husband Tyler, Tristan Bell, Ainsley Cross, Amberley Cross, Piper Fennell, Sawyer Fennell, great grandchildren; Ezra Henderson, Elaina Henderson and a host of nieces nephews and friends.
Funeral Services for Ricky will be held on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at 3:00PM from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Byrd officiating . Interment will take place after at New Hope Cemetery with Jeremy Fennell, Craig Cross, Sammy Brinkley, Adam Clayton, Robert Clayton, Ryan Brown, Nick Brown, Scott Cruz, and Matt Moore serving as pallbearers. The family will receive visitors at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, March 14th from 5:00PM-8:00PM.
