Cecilia McKittrick

Cecilia Rose McKittrick, 84, of Hiram, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so fiercely. She was born on July 2, 1942, in Farmington, West Virginia.

Cecilia was, in every sense of the word, a fighter. She could be rough around the edges, shaped by hard times and more than her share of trials and tribulations. However, beneath that toughness was a heart that was enormous. She was the kind of woman who would give you the shirt off her back, even if she needed it herself.

Life did not always deal Cecilia an easy hand. She was widowed young and faced the challenging yet fulfilling task of raising three children on her own. At the young age of 55, she suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side for the remainder of her life. Yet she refused to let the things that happened to her become the whole story.

For 25 years after her stroke, Cecilia remained fiercely independent. She continued to live life on her own terms and found great joy in helping raise her grandchildren as they entered into the world. She showed them, perhaps without ever realizing it, what perseverance looks like. The cards she was dealt were far from ideal, but Cecilia made the best hand she could with every one of them.

She loved ferociously and immensely. Her family was her greatest source of pride, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate what each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren had accomplished. She could be stubborn, outspoken, and unapologetically herself-but if you were hers, you were loved, and you knew it.

Cecilia fought cancer with the same determination with which she had faced everything else in her life. In the end, the cancer won the battle, but it did not take away the life she had lived or the love she had given.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom, and her son, John, as well as several of her siblings.

She leaves behind her daughter, Stephanie and husband, Randy; son, Michael and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Celia and husband, Mitchell; Randalyn and partner, Brandon; Gavin and partner, Ellie; Sheldon and partner, Ashlee; Claire; and Colin; great-grandchildren who lovingly called her Gigi, Raevon, Sterling, Azalea, Colson, Landyn, and Ryland; brother, John Paul and wife, Sonia; and several nieces and nephews, along with countless memories held by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Cecilia's passing was quiet and quick, with her family surrounding her.

She lived a good, long life-but it was not always an easy one. She endured loss, illness, disability, heartbreak, and hardship, and somehow still found a way to keep loving, giving, raising, fighting, and showing up.

The cards she was dealt were not always the ones she would have chosen, but Cecilia played them, and she played them all the way to the end.

She will be deeply missed, fiercely remembered, and forever loved.
