Carl Franklin Newton

Carl Franklin Newton, born on August 29, 1946, in Atlanta, GA, passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 80. Carl was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Edward and Fannie Lou Newton. A lifelong resident of Georgia, Carl made his home in Hiram, where he built a life filled with family and friends.

Carl's educational journey began at Margaret Fain Elementary School, followed by Southwest High School in Atlanta, and he ultimately graduated from South Cobb High School. He dedicated his career to the pharmacy industry as a pharmaceutical technician, where he was known for his compassion and commitment to helping others.

Beyond his work, Carl was a music lover at heart. He enjoyed a wide range of musical genres, particularly country, rock, and religious music, often sharing his appreciation for artists like "The Gathers." His spirit was adventurous, as he loved to travel to the mountains and explore flea markets in his spare time, seeking out treasures and enjoying the simple joys of life.

Along with his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his brothers, J.D. Newton and Charles Newton, and his sister, Edna Smith.

Carl is survived by his significant other, Martha Rakestraw; his brother, Joe (Sue) Newton; sister, Elizabeth Lewis; sister-in-law, Becky Newton, and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his vibrant spirit and kind heart.

A graveside service to celebrate Carl's life will be held at Flint Hill Methodist Church Cemetery on October 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects, sharing stories and memories of a wonderful man who left a lasting impact on many lives.
