Billie Allen, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born on April 6th, 1939, in La Follette, Tennessee, to loving parents who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a passion for family.
Growing up in Jacksboro, Tennessee, Billie developed a deep love for his community and a strong sense of loyalty. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for five years, dedicating himself to the service with honor and distinction.
Upon completing his military service, Billie embarked on a successful career as a Machine Tool Specialist. For three decades, he worked diligently at the Oak Ridge Nuclear Plant, where his expertise and commitment were highly regarded. Billie was a valued employee and retired from his role, leaving a lasting impact on him through the many friendships and colleagues that have continued to stay in touch with him through the years.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Billie was a passionate football enthusiast, always cheering for the University of Tennessee. Whether rooting on the Volunteers from the comfort of his living room or attending games with his loved ones, he celebrated his team through the ups and downs.
Billie is preceded in death by his parents, Tibis and Agnes Allen; his loving wife, Lenora Allen; two brothers, Burgin and Don Allen.
Above all, Billie cherished his role as a devoted husband, married to his beloved wife Lenora for 53 extraordinary years. Together, they created endless memories and nurtured a strong, loving family. He was a pillar of strength for his daughters, Lora Taylor (Larry) and Melinda Mitchell (Ron), and took immense joy in his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather to Airon Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Zeb Taylor, and Charlotte Bradsher. Billie also leaves behind a sister, Jenny Thompson and a brother, Joe Allen. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchild brought him immeasurable happiness and reaffirmed his belief in the importance of family.
He delighted in large family meals, where laughter, stories, and good food were always abundant. Some of the most treasured memories were made during summers spent together at Norris Lake, where Billie reveled in the simple pleasures of life and created lasting bonds.
As we say our final farewells to Billie Allen, let us remember him for his warm heart, his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, and his unyielding spirit. He will forever be cherished as a loving husband, a devoted father, a doting grandfather, and a proud great-grandfather.
