Betty Gordy Shepherd, age 84, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. She was born on May 2, 1932, in Thomaston, GA, to the late Hill & Ruby Lois Gordy, and was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Shepherd, and brother, Harry Gordy. Mrs. Shepherd retired from Cobb County School District as a school bus driver and was a member of Praise Tabernacle.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia & Horace Jordan of Powder Springs, GA, and Pamela & Derrell Brown of Dallas, GA; sister, Wynette & Donald Corley of Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law, Antionette Gordy of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Gwynne & Adam Stowell, Justin & Abby Jordan, Beckie & Joseph Cox, and Marcus & Randi Brown; great-grandchildren, Landon Cox, Lydia Cox, Weston Cox and Lana Stowell.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at 1 PM, from Praise Tabernacle, with Pastor Tommy Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Praise Tabernacle Cemetery. Horace Jordan, Derrell Brown, Marcus Brown, Justin Jordan, Adam Stowell and Joseph Cox will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 22, 2016, from 11 AM until the time of service at Praise Tabernacle.
