Betty Louise Strickland Marks, age 83, of Whitesburg, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2025. She was born in Carroll County on February 22, 1942, the daughter of the late Elmer Boone Strickland and Eva Inez Strickland.
Betty grew up in Whitesburg and graduated from Central High School in 1960. She retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Fairburn. Before her battle with dementia, her most special moments were spent going on vacations, eating out, and shopping with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Strickland and John Strickland; a sister, Lena Chatman; and a niece, Kimberly Lynn Carroll.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Tommy Driver; two grandchildren, Abigail (Kervens) Pierre, and Joshua (Ryn) Driver; one sister, Mary Vandiver; two nephews, Todd (Karen) Strickland, and Keith (Jennifer) Carroll; one niece, Lisa Chatman; and one sister friend, Nancy Sweeton.
The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at Autumn Square in Carrollton for their loving care, companionship, and "snacks.". The family would also like to thank all the staff on the OB/PEDS floor at Tanner Carrollton and Tanner Hospice for their kindness and support during her final days.
The family will have a private graveside service at a later date.
