Betty J Honea

Mrs. Betty Jean Leatherwood Honea, age 91, of Villa Rica, departed this life peacefully on April 17, 2026. She was born on October 13, 1934 in Clear Creek, Georgia, the daughter of the late Jesse James Leatherwood and the late Leila Viola Fendley Leatherwood, Betty lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by her unwavering faith, resilience, and love for her family and community.

Betty was a hardworking woman, navigating life's challenges with grace and a smile that could light up any room. She cherished her relationship with the Lord and was a devoted member of Gateway Baptist Church, where she found strength and solace. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, inspiring those around her.

A passionate gardener, Betty found joy in nurturing her yard, devoting countless hours to her vegetable and flower gardens. The vibrant blooms and bountiful harvests she cultivated stood as a testament to her hardworking spirit and love for the beauty of nature.

In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband of many years, Melvin Donald "M.D." Honea; her son, Donald R. "D.R." Woody; sister, Mable Weaver; brothers: James "Jimmy" Leatherwood and Clarence Leatherwood.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Larry) Roberson; son and daugther-in-law, Ronald (Tonya) Woody; grandchildren: Brandon Woody, Starla (Tommy) Shriver, Jim (Stephanie) Roberson, Heather (Scott) Jordan, Jessica (Michael) Tatz, Tommie Dollar, Ryan (Katie) Dollar, Jacob (Rizelle) Dollar, and Kathryn Bentley; great grandchildren: Logan Woody, Bailey Shriver, Mallory Shriver, Taylor Roberson, Braelynn Roberson, Cameron Jordan, Hunter Jordan, Lucian Tatz, Teysa Tatz, Zoey Tatz, Millie Bentley, Luca Dollar, Levi Dollar, Lara Dollar and one on the way; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place in the Sam Clark Chapel at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Josh Agan and Pastor Jeff Byrd officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Mt. Harmony Memorial Park in Mableton, Georgia.
