Betty June Chotas

Mrs. Betty June Chotas, age 95 of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026. She was born September 29, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late Oliver George Buice and the late Lora Bagley Buice.

She was a talented singer/songwriter for over 75 years in the country music industry, having written songs for Brenda Lee. She was induced into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in 1991. A true lover of music, she enjoyed traveling to Nashville, Tennessee. She was an awesome cook and could often be found watching Family Feud. Betty was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Sean Chotas; grandson, Christopher Cason; and a sister, Christine Ogletree.

She is survived by two daughters, Esther (Terry) Cason and Lisa Chotas; two sons, Jimmy Dean Chotas and Dean Nick Chotas, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Kenneith Staton, Wesley Staton, Ashley Quarles, Deana Larsen, Nikki Chotas, Kara Carpenter, Alexis Hunt and Dallas Moore; and a brother, Benny Elliott.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, (her 96th birthday) from 12 noon until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Sam Clark Chapel with Pastor Peter Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park of Marietta with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
