Barbara George Helms

Barbara George Helms, aged 90, peacefully passed away on June 16, 2026. Born on December 12, 1935, in Kernersville, North Carolina, to the late Charlie and Irene George. Barbara was currently living in Suwanee, Georgia, but was formerly from Douglasville, Georgia. She lived a full life dedicated to her family and passions.

Known for her green thumb, Barbara found joy in spending time in the outdoors. She could often be found digging in the dirt and taking walks through the woods. After her husband's retirement, Barbara spent many wonderful years enjoying their dream home, tending to her garden, and taking beach vacations with her children and grandchildren. Barbara was a devoted homemaker who wore many hats, but her favorite was undoubtedly that of "Nana." She cherished every moment she spent with her children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always ready with a warm smile and a loving embrace.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Helms; sons, Curtis Helms and Robert Helms Jr.; and brothers, Johnny George and Jimmy George.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Donna (Gregg) Bates; grandchildren, Katy Helms, Nic Helms, Michelle Holstein, and Taylor Bates-Wheeler; and great-grandchildren Ella, Greyson, and Pierce.

Visitation will take place at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at the Sam Clark Chapel at 11:00 AM with Gregg Bates officiating. She will be laid to rest at Melrose Garden of Memories.

Barbara will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
