Mrs. Barbara Jean Buchanan, age 87 of Hiram, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026. She was born on October 6, 1938, in Boaz, Alabama, the daughter of the late Aaron Dale and the late Lauren Hendrix Dale.
She was the daughter of a cotton farmer, and although she lived in Georgia, she was an Alabama girl at heart. Barbara will be remembered for her homemade biscuits that brought joy to the family gatherings. She enjoyed spending time at Gulf Shores, Alabama, and would sacrifice everything for her children. She retired from the Arrow Shirt Company with over 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Sanders and June Woodham; and three brothers, Buddy Dale, Bruce Dale, and Albert Dale.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Crider; son, Stacy Buchanan; three grandchildren, Eric Crider, Chad Crider, and Kayla Crider; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Diane Chestnut; brother, Steve Dale; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Buchanan will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Sam Clark Chapel with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Interment service will follow in Sunrise Gardens of Memories of Douglasville.
