Donald Browning
September 10, 1934 — April 13, 2017
Donald J. Browning, a life-long resident of Paulding County, Georgia, passed on peacefully on Thursday, April 13 at the age of 82 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.
Don is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nell Browning; his children Toni (Todd) Tibbitts, Janene Browning (Chris Brown); grandchildren Zack Tibbitts and Toree Wofford; sisters Carmen Parks and Elowese Butler; and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude & Rilla Browning; his brothers, Jody Browning and Cleve Browning; his sisters, Lois Browning, Bernice Carroll, and Mildred Shepherd.
Don was born on September 10, 1934 into the Browning’s farming family in the Beulah Community of Western Paulding County. He began farming early in life and, at the age of 15, began driving a delivery truck for J.L. Lester & Sons Wholesale, then for Coca-Cola. Don went on to work as Office Manager for Gas Incorporated for more than 20 years. He was later employed by Blue Flame Gas, and completed his career delivering “Meals On Wheels” in Paulding County. Don’s heart of service always shined through in his work endeavors.
Don was a devoted family man, a believer in Christ, and he held the degree of Master Mason in Freemasonry. He especially enjoyed spoiling his granddaughter, Toree and supporting his grandson, Zack.
Don wholeheartedly committed much of his spare time to coaching, umpiring, and supporting youth sports. When he wasn’t “on the ball field”, he enjoyed traveling and was always “ready to go”.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Sam Clark Funeral Home, Hiram, GA. Reverend Todd Tibbitts and Reverend Terry Hudson will officiate.
Visitation 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, April 14 at Sam Clark Funeral Home.
